New Windows OS |
Windows
8 was arguably the worst misstep the software giant made after Vista. There
were many things wrong with the OS, which users did not particularly appreciate.
Windows 8 was supposed to be the most refreshingly different OS the software
maker was to offer its users. But in fact, what happened is the exact opposite.
Windows
8 overhauled the conventional Windows User Interface to a huge extent. There
are far too many changes that most traditional Windows users hated. For
instance, the desktop interface has been entirely replaced by a Start screen in
Windows 8. There is no Start button and Start Menu, and there are big tiles all
over the screen. Most Windows users have grown familiar with the ever-consistent
presence of these elements in previous Windows versions. The omission of these
basic elements is nothing less than a shock to them.
Even
the built-in help and tutorial feature is insufficient and does not entirely
serve the purpose. Users have to figure out the stuff themselves. In short,
even with the advancements and many new features, Windows 8 has many things
that annoy users more.
Microsoft
seems to be making amends for the mistake they committed. Windows 10, the next
member to be introduced to the Windows family, looks fascinating and something
which Windows 7 users would relish using. There are all the necessary and
proper changes as logical from Windows 7 to a new OS, which Windows 8 should
have been.
Many
awesome features plus some comebacks can be seen in the technical preview of
Windows 10, which was launched last October. The desktop UI and the Start Menu have
been restored. Apart from that, there is a new Task View button in Windows 10,
which allows users to switch quickly between applications.
Latest Windows OS |
Windows
8 Metro UI has not been totally abandoned. The Start Menu has live tiles pinned
on the right, but the elements can be resized as per the desire of the user. Moreover,
snapping apps will be much improved in the new OS. This is because there are
more layout choices and up to four applications snapped to the new desktop
screen all at once.
In
all, the latest Windows OS shows huge promise.
