Windows Media Player issues |
If you wish to watch your favorite
YouTube videos in your system, enabling a special pack of codecs for Windows
Media Player becomes a necessity. This is because most sites such as YouTube
use FLV or Flash Video Files as the common video format. These files ensure
that the video has good picture quality and a small size. But then, Windows
Media Player doesn’t support FLV files unless you have downloaded a special
pack of codecs. After installing such programs, decoding of the FLV formats can
be done to make them compatible with Windows Media Player.
You can use the following instructions
provided by the Windows Live support team to enable Windows Media Player to
play FLV files:
K-Lite
Media Codec
· At first, you need
to close Windows Media Player. Now, go to the K-Lite Media Codec Pack homepage and
start downloading the K-Lite Codec pack.
· Once it’s downloaded,
you can install the codec pack and then open the Windows Media Player
application.
· Now, go to File and click on Open. Select the FLV file you want to play, and click Open to start the playback.
PlayFLV
· For PlayFLV codec,
first open Windows Media Player and then navigate to the PlayFLV website. Start
downloading the PlayFLV package and then run the installer once the program has
been completely downloaded.
· Next, open Windows
Media Player and click on File, followed
by Open. Press the CTRL and M keys to get the command bar, and then select the FLV file you
want to play in the application. Now, click on Open to begin playback.
· There are chances
that you will get a message that says The
filetype is unknown. In such cases, all you require is to check the box
next to it that says Don’t ask again.
· First, you need to
check if the Windows Media Player is opened. If it is, then close the application.
· Now, you need to download
and install the Windows Essentials Codec Pack. Once you have installed, run the
Windows Media Player in your system.
· Next, you need to
click on File followed by Open. Here also, select the FLV file
you want to play, and then click Open
to start the playback.
These instructions provided by the Windows
live support team can help you in enabling special codecs in your Windows Media
Player to run FLV files.
