Some Hidden Windows 10 Features

Windows 10 Download Information
With the many problems with Windows 8, Windows users were expecting to hear more about Windows 9, which was the next rumored Windows OS. Windows 9 was supposed to be Windows 8 done right, just like Windows 7 was Windows Vista rectified. The software giant Microsoft Corporation surprised users by skipping a version number to reveal Windows 10. Windows 10 download will be available next year when it will be officially released. Recently, the company unveiled a preview version of Windows 10 download.
There are some obvious changes, but we will discuss some of the hidden features that some of you may not have noticed. So, let us have a sneak peek.

A brand new Home tab

When you consider the last few versions of Windows, when you open My Computer window, you would see you your computer’s multiple storage locations and various shortcuts to default folders such as Documents and My Pictures. Windows 10 bring something new.  Users will now end up in a new view, which is referred to as Home, which shows options such as Favorites, Frequent Folders, and Recent Files.
When we talk about Favorites, it looks like, where Documents or My Pictures should show up. Now, the Frequent Folders, if we look at it logically, we can see it may be used to track, which folders users have opened the most number of times. The Recent Files looks like the same feature, which was first seen in Windows Vista.

Start Menu is now resizable

Finally, the feature, which most users have been waiting for and which should have been made available long ago –Start Menu can now be resized. This should have been there much before, but now with Windows 10, users can enjoy this functionality. You can make the Start Menu as tall and as wide as you prefer.

Notifications in Windows 10

We are not talking about the rumored Notification Tray. Actually, it is not there yet in the Technical Preview. However, users need not be totally disappointed, because there are some new pretty notifications that now come as pop ups in the top right corner of the Window 10 desktop screen. These notifications are present in the place of the Speech Bubbles, which you might be familiar of, used to pop out of the system tray.

These were some of the exciting features in Windows 10, you might not have noticed. There are many more; just take the Windows 10 preview for a test run.

Download And Activation Of Windows 10 Free For Windows 8 Owners

The president of Microsoft Indonesia, Andreas Diantoro, confirmed lately that Windows 10 download is free for those who own Windows 8 already. Now this really matters since users are used to free downloads and updates for operating systems. This is something common with most of the other major OS providers such as Android, iOS and OSX, which provide updates free of charge.

Microsoft is putting its best efforts to gain back the trust among the users, which was lost with the introduction of Windows 8. Microsoft wants to make sure that Windows 10 would make up for the loss of Windows 8. Keeping all that happened earlier with Windows 8, Windows 10 would be the chance for it to change the mood of discussion surrounded by Windows.

Windows 10 will be available for free, taking examples of OSX and Windows 8.1. This would be similar to the updates to Mavericks from Apple, which also resembles the recent Apple update to Yosemite that is already in Preview, ready for the developers to download and test. Windows 10 free download is also similar to Windows 8.1, which was a free update to Windows RT and Windows 8 users when it was rolled out through Windows Store initially.

If you are planning to get a copy of the latest Windows 10 download, all you need to do is visit the website preview.windows.com from your computer. You would find the Get Started button, click on the same and follow the onscreen instructions one by one. According to Microsoft, Windows 10 would be more like one product, one family and one store available as a free download. The desktop version of Windows 10 will have dual features, said Joe Belfiore. Hence, there will be no separation in between old desktop and modern apps.

It is not sure if Windows 10 would be free to download for Windows Vista and Windows 7 users. However, we expect that there is a special offer for people who own Windows XP. It would make sense only when Windows 10 is available for all, so that every user takes advantage of the latest operating system. This will make more sense for Microsoft’s effort to gain the long lost trust of the users. This will draw more people to update to the latest and the expectedly best operating system. Even then, let us not forget that there will be limitations such as the system requirements and the likes.

Next Generation Windows OS Is On Its Way

Apparently, the next Windows OS is going to be branded as Windows 10, not Windows 9. Microsoft has its own reasons for skipping a number. A recent article in Forbes magazine pointed out that if Microsoft were to follow the exact chronological system for branding their operating systems, then Windows 10 should actually be called Windows 12.

Windows 10 taking a step back to the old Desktop UI

Microsoft, realizing that they made a big leap to the Metro UI, is now going back to the old Desktop UI. They understand that most Windows users would prefer a smooth transition to the Metro-style UI from Desktop UI rather than going through a learning curve in using a new UI. Keeping this in mind, Microsoft has kept the Metro elements to a minimum and has retained most of the Desktop UI elements you saw in Windows 7.

So, Windows 10 will have the Desktop UI as the basic OS structure. Yes, you will have the Start Menu, Taskbar and all other Desktop UI elements. But, some Metro UI elements are also included here, though in a lesser degree when compared to Windows 8. The All Programs section in the Start Menu is replaced with the Metro-style Apps screen.

According to Microsoft, Windows 10 UI and the screen settings will change according to the device on which it is running. So, for example, if you are installing the OS on a tablet, you will see a Metro-style UI rather than the hybrid Desktop UI mentioned above.

In fact, already a Preview version has been released for the Enterprise users. For the Windows 10 download of this preview version, you need to visit the official Microsoft tech support website. But, remember to read the instructions provided there, before you go ahead with the Windows 10 download and installation. Preview OS versions are not for everyone.

Windows 10 is still a work in progress, and the preview version will have all kinds of technical bugs and OS design issues. You are agreeing to participate in the OS testing phase by agreeing to install this preview version. So, if you have no time for dealing with error messages and subsequent OS preview updates, just skip these OS preview versions and wait for the final release of Windows 10 OS.

But, if you were waiting to see what the next generation Windows OS would be like, then install the Preview version and see for yourself. Contact us, if you have any queries regarding the installation.

How To Install Windows 10 From Scratch

Windows 10 OS
The best way to use Windows 10 is to install the OS in a proper machine and to make sure that it is the only operating system running. There are two ways to accomplish this. First is to take an old computer or laptop that you no longer use and install the Windows 10 operating system from scratch. The second method is to take a spare hard disk, put in your computer and then start installing Windows 10 on it. If you wish to make use of both the hard disks, power down your PC, unplug the current hard disk, and then install the secondary hard disk.
After installing the Windows 10 OS, you can plug the old HDD in as well and enter the BIOS or UEFI to select which HDD to boot from. After that, plug your USB boot drive into the test computer, turn it on and then navigate to the UEFI or BIOS of the computer. This is usually done by pressing on one of the function keys, like F2, or the Delete key repeatedly as the computer boots. Navigate to the Boot section of the setup menu and ensure that USB drive is the first boot option.

The setup program may be displaying the USB drive as a hard drive, so you will have to go to hard disk boot priority area and put the Windows 10 USB drive ahead of the actual hard disk of the computer.

Depending on the computer, you may have to turn off options like Secure Boot or Enable Boot from the external device. You can then save the settings and exit BIOS. If you are experiencing any issues in getting into the BIOS or UEFI on a Windows 8 PC, you can plug in the USB boot drive and try the below method.
Open the Charms bar, select Settings and then Change PC settings. Choose Update and Recovery, click on Recovery and click on Restart Now, located in the Advanced start-up area. After the computer restarts, click on the Use A Device option and then select your USB boot drive. Now Windows will be able to load the setup from the drive. This is the only way to boot a Surface Pro from USB.
These are the steps to install Windows 10 from scratch. You will be able to download Windows 10 from the Windows 10 download link in the Microsoft website. To know more on Windows 10 download, you can contact our Microsoft support team.

What’s Fresh In Windows 10

Windows 10 OS
Windows 10 Features
Windows 10 is Microsoft’s upcoming operating system, chiefly aimed at users who’ve had enough of Windows 8. The main thing this OS is set to do is drag the traditional mouse-and-keyboard users back in. But the company promises mobile device users that it meanwhile is not giving up on touch. There’s still going to be the Charms and the rest, but this won’t be panning out like Windows 8 did. Maybe that’s what prompted the strange nomenclature.
Anyway, seeing the free Windows 10 download they’re offering for tryouts – the tech preview – we know we’ll be seeing the following.
The Start Menu
Users have been clamoring for this ever since Microsoft scrapped it from Windows 8, and that’s a major reason behind the OS not hitting it out that well. With the Start menu making a comeback, older Windows customers have something familiar to hold on to. The new version looks a lot like the Start menu in Windows 7, with the addition of a live tile screen on the right side. They’ve let out plenty of images of this, so you can check those out before installing the preview.
Better Task View
They’ve done away with the problematic Task Switcher and brought in a Task View option, letting you switch between multiple desktops. About time too, because most users, especially novices, don’t use the Alt+Tab shortcut instead.
Shortcuts for Command Prompt
They’ve keyed in keyboard shortcuts for command prompt. One thing people hadn’t been able to do before, was paste their commands the same way they would elsewhere. Now they can, and that’s really useful.
Continuum
This is what they’re calling the automatic adaptability that this OS comes with. If the Windows 10 OS detects the lack of a keyboard, it switches to the touch interface all by itself.
Universal apps
Windows 10 OS
Windows 10 Preview
A reinvention of the modern apps in Windows 8, these applications can be run on multiple devices including phones, tablets and desktops. There’s also just the Windows Store to get these from, to avoid any confusion which might occur otherwise.
Business and Enterprise- friendly features
The new Windows OS comes with a bunch of features for enterprise use, such as provisions for corporate data storage and protection. You can also avail Mobile Device Management on all devices.
This is what currently the Windows 10 download has in store for you. There’s no saying what else will make it into the offering when the final release is out.
